Compassion Fatigue and Burnout are REAL

Each day, we listen to stories of trauma, pain, grief, and stress. Even if we have boundaries of steel, we are still human beings. Over time, those painful stories can chip away at our own emotions. When a client leaves us feeling raw or uncertain, we need room to sort through the struggle with people who get it. Personal therapy and therapist consultation groups help, but sometimes we need support and community that is easily accessible, on our schedule, and affordable.

WHAT IS THE THERAPIST PROJECT?
The Therapist Project offers a confidential space that is easily accessible and affordable where we can talk about what we carry, and offers a place to turn when we feel burned out, overwhelmed, or stuck with a particular client. Our work depends on care, both for our clients and ourselves. When we feel better, our clients improve, and so does our professional reputation - more referrals!

And let's not forget the business side of being a therapist. You may feel constantly stressed about keeping your schedule full, or you may be harboring resentment about the low reimbursement rates, not to mention all of the billing, prior authorizations, and the endless hoops required by insurance companies just to do the thing you love - help people.

Believe me, I've been there and I get it - that's why I created The Therapist Project. For seventeen years, I've worked with some of the most challenging clients - personality and eating disorders, deep wounds from complex trauma, chronic self-harm, treatment-resistant depression, and chronic illness. My days in both hospital and private practice settings, I learned how hard it is to show up day after day feeling like all of your colleagues seem to be juggling it all with ease. Let's face it, we hold a lot for everyone - our patients and their families, progress notes, billing, authorizations, professional collaboration, AND our own lives - partners, children, aging parents, household responsibilities, our own medical and health visits (and insurance!) The list is endless, which means we are holding A LOT.
The Therapist Project was created to support therapists who carry ALL. OF. IT.
